Pain Relief

This is the first morning I’ve woken up without pain from existing.

I started taking low-dose naltrexone last week because my doctor received a call from someone looking to prescribe it to them for their fibromyalgia. Up to that point my doctor was under the impression there was nothing that could be done for it. The advice was always to just lose weight (because of course it’s the weight that causes pain, not the pain that causes weight gain sigh) from every doctor. Current doctor says “fibromyalgia” every visit, and I tell her that giving it a name doesn’t make it not hurt.

A study done in 2022, published 2023, found that 9 of 10 of those diagnosed with fibromyalgia received “>50%” relief.

So she prescribes it to me.

I start taking it before the weekend. Usually I use the weekend to do heavy yardwork and spend the week in pain.
Not today. I stretched my arms and it felt good. I tried stretching my legs, it also felt good. I got down on the floor and did the basic yoga poses that I was always assigned to “limber up” for “real exercise”. It was like someone just changed the skill level from legendary to novice. I held positions with no pain. I could squat and get up without issue.

I went to my spouses office in the house and said “LOOK” and put a leg up on his desk and stretched. I did squats in front of him. “When have you ever seen me do this???”
I cried. This is amazing. I want it to last. Holy shit.
